Turning the iconic horror franchise completely inside out, "Wes Craven's New Nightmare" is a bold meta-take on "Elm Street" with Heather Langenkamp and Miko Hughes giving two of the best performances in the entire series.

Craven returns to give us the best thing since the first Nightmare. Great story, with exceptional acting and some actual scare.

Out of this particular movie series, I've only ever saw the first one and this one. I like them both.

Action: 2/3 + Comedy: 1/2 + Love/Sex: 1/1 + Plot: 1/1 + Music: 1/1 + Good vs. Evil: 1/1 + Special Effects: 0.5/1 = 7.5/10 or 75%. Hands down the best in the Freddy series to date. We get back the original director and he has a fun time with his thinking cap on. The other entries are simply movies now and Robert Englund shows up as himself to talk about playing Freddy. Then, Freddy appears and reboots everything on a great story within a story note.

The best Nightmare - the whole movie within a movie works really well and is quite unnerving. Even if this one doesn't have a lot of blood, it's a whole lot scarier on the psychological level. Good way to end the series.
