"What Lies Beneath" starts out as a promising Hitchcockian throwback, but as soon as the supernatural elements start kicking in, the wind goes out of its sails and the story only gets dumber.

The story of a married couple Claire Spencer (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Dr. Norman Spencer (Harrison Ford). Claire hears her neighbor Mary Feur (Miranda Otto) crying and witnessing her husband Warren (James Remar) with a body bag. Had some dull moments and uninteresting plot. Lead artists were terrific, The Others looked better compared to this. What Lies Beneath could have been better in many aspects.

A very murky thriller that has a few scare moments, but, mostly, is too plodding and slowly paced to be interesting. By the time the twist is revealed, the grim atmosphere borders on boring.

"What Lies Beneath" is possibly one of the scariest movies that I have ever seen. Lame as that may be, this movie was terrifying. The eye in the fence, the muddy footprints (cliche?), and even Michelle Pfieffer turning into a zombie thing in the bathtub...terrifying stuff, man. What intrigued me most about this movie though was the incredible way it was written as a mystery. Sppoooookkkkyyyyy!

I really enjoyed this thriller, even though some would say it's hokey. Good actors.

Just like The Others, once I figured out what was going on, it took all the enjoyment out of the film. At least this one kept me guessing a bit longer. A half-hearted thriller/mystery with a twist that's too easy to figure out.

The first time I saw this movie when it came out, I was pretty freaked out - I jumped a lot. It has some good cinematography and a decent story but it is way too predictable to be considered a good film. Thriller fans may enjoy.
