An interesting movie, producers were smart not to market this as a children's film as there are some pretty deep issues of loneliness, authority, and friendship at play here. The film packed a lot more emotion that I thought it would, and though it's done well, the at-times dark tone may be a little off-putting to some. However, I'd have to say it's one of the more creative movies I've seen this year and think it does a great job in the risks it takes.

I did like this movie I lved the soundtrack I loved how the monsters looked I loved all the trailers leading up to this movie but I felt they left alot open to it and tried to make too complicated of A story but on the other hand the story is about growing up and life as A kid wanting everything to be perfect and that's complicated to,I do think they made the kid act very stupid in the begining of the film and that and the ending was the films only downfall still A great flick great for kids and adults and it does carry that magic if you read the book as the child

What a brilliant portrayal of the inner psyche of a young boy. I was at once a young boy and so I can certainly vouch for much of the messages of this movie. Perhaps a sexist comment, but boys will like this movie a lot more than girls. Each of the characters held a very special purpose in Max's realization of himself. Catherine Keener was a brilliant choice for the movie and the voices of the Wild Things {Forest Whitaker, Catherine O'Hara, Paul Dano, James Gandolfini, and Chris Cooper} were simply inspired choices. A great altogether film with a brilliant, hopeful message of the beauty of friendship, honesty, family, and love!
