A very interesting, dramatic, and creepy fairy tale. The movie is really well shot and the special effects are great but do not take over the story. It is a very dark, but interesting movie.

This movie had me in tears in a puddle on the floor. Guillermo Del Tor is a master at making my whole body shake with what I hope to be shivers. It was violently realistic as well as metaphorically sound. It was terrifying and touching. It was brilliant and raw. This was no movie at all, but a film, and what truly astounded me was how fortuitously it brought all the components together into a wonderous film.

Very dark gruesome, gritty. Definitely not a childrens movie. Special effects are very good. Ofelia will steal your heart. Good if you can stomach it.

Visually stunning to say the least. Captain Vidal is so incredibly disturbing, at times it just plain hurts to see him. Ofelia will break your heart.

Grim, disturbing fantasy that is also very mean-spirited and gory. The story is thoroughly engaging, despite many cliches and there are some truly unique moments to be found. Director Guillermo Del Toro has crafted a visual winner. Final Grade: B+

Possibly my favorite movie. The allegory is perfectly told, the performence by Sergi Lopez as the captain is spellbounding, and the ending is perfect. Graphic, yet it was nessesary. The cinementography won an academy award and for good reason. A fantasy masterpiece

Not a children movie. Its adult fantasy with scary pictures. I didn't enjoy it very much, but this movie was great, with the dark and gloomy situations. A different fantasy movie, its not like a narnia or LOTR, It have a horror feel.

I really like this movie. I'm not madly in love with it, but it is excellent and I look forward to everything else by Guillermo Del Toro. The acting, especially by Ivana Baquero is excellent. Her step-father was absolutely revolting and I like the bittersweet ending.

The only problem I had with this movie was the subtitles. I like to pay attention to every aspect of a great movie, whether it's the visuals or the sounds. Reading subtitles takes away from that, dang I wish it was in English.

One of the few movies that actually does an "adult fantasy" incredibly well. I have to say that this is Del Toro's masterpiece. The film's eerie and dark backdrop continues through the fantasy world and the real world. The camera work through out the film reaches perfection. I never once felt like I was missing out on anything. The feelings of the characters came through like arrows. I really cannot describe how beautifully made this film is. I really thought the movie did an incredible job at compelling the audience to follow the character and feel how she feels. The ending to the film is one of the best parts about it, and I know people will disagree with me on this, but it really does properly close the movie.
