The moment the coach carrying our main characters sets out we know we are in for a great adventure. John Ford was a master of American westerns, and "Stagecoach" was his first of many successes.

Full of interesting characters who break out past their stereotypical roles. A great western that contains equal amounts drama, action and comedy.

An effective Western that knows how to balance its action scenes with a peppering of character moments. A youthful John Wayne shows flashes of the gravity he will bring to the genre in many future films. 1939 was a great year for movies.

This movie holds up really well, both as a character study and as an action film. Yet another reason to join the Yakima Canutt fan club.

I like John Wayne in this role best because he doesn't have to play the experienced old guy. It is one of the better westerns I have seen but is kind of Cheesy at times (It was made in the '30s). Recommended for any western fan.
