Interesting, but i can't really say it's good. This romanian new wave is not good for cinema.

Winner of the Palme d'Or in 2007. Two dorm roommates in 1987 Romania struggle to get an illegal abortion for one of them. This felt more like witnessing reality than watching a movie. Tension throughout. I recommend this one.

A haunting film with impressive, real performances and dialogue. It takes an observer's perspective on a young woman's abortion, neither condoning nor condemning the act, but serving as a reminder of how relationships are affected by life choices. The stationary camerawork allows you to focus on the performances. Deserving of all its praise.

a hard story and hard choices by director, fixed camera almost all scenes, despite all of them it takes you on your seat. A great work..

Devastatingly frank, realistic, and sometimes mortifying drama that takes a long time to tell its story because it encompasses so many mundane details; one feels a need to get to know the other girl a bit more than her friend (who does all but have the abortion for her). Final Grade: B

An absolutely captivating, moving, sad and realistic movie, with great camera work, beautiful cinematograpy and above all excellent acting from the lead actresses. Total triumph all the way, deserved all the awards it got. Proving that European cinema beats Hollywood anytime...

A brilliant work out of Romania as opposed to the usual movies that discuss taboo topics and offer a solution while consistently bashing us over the head with it throughout the running time all with emotional cues from the music, you know the type. I love the long unbroken shots that give it a more genuine and unrehearsed feel which just add to the authenticity. As much as this is being plagued as a pro-abortion movie, you can easily argue both sides of the coin as no morals, ethics or solutions are presented.

While the subject matter of this film is a highly-political topic, Mungiu manages (brilliantly) to avoid any aspect of discussing its ethical implications. The story simply is. The photography is amazing with several scenes looking almost like real-life paintings, reminiscent of Citizen Kane. The true genius of this film, however, is the telling of the story of the friendship between the two girls. Regardless of your opinions of the morality of abortion, this film is absolutely worth seeing.

An ok movie with many inconsistencies. While the events turn out different than perhaps expected, it still isn't the masterpiece everyone is screaming about. The actresses were good, except the brunette was a bit too whiny.
