Both ironic and fitting I happened to watch "All About My Mother" for the first time on Mother's Day. It's a tragic, saddening, but finally uplifting melodrama.

Excellent. Recommended. One woman touches and changes the lives of several others and vice versa. This is the way "Intersecting Lives" movies should be made.

A very personal film for Almodovar. Penelope Cruz is captivating in every scene and the drama is handled in a very real way, though it could have turned into an over-the-top soap opera.

(MAYBE SPOILERS) The day that Almodovar doesn't make a personal film, will be the end for him. He makes great stories, and casts always great actors. This one is great. With the title, you assume that the guy will speak about what she is, but actually is said after he dies, throughout the movie. Fantastic drama like only Pedro can make.

What Movies Teach Us: Penelope Cruz can act?!!?? WTF????????????????? (see What Movies Teach Us list) This featured the only film that Penelope Cruz acted well in for quite some time, until she reteamed with Almodovar for the movie Volver (live Flesh doesn't count). Featuring one of the best performances on film, with Cecilia Roth. The character Agrado provided nice comic relief.
