If I had to call one John Huston film his vanity project, it'd be this one. "The Bible: In the Beginning..." goes through nearly all the most recognizable stories from the Book of Genesis with remarkable production and scale but doesn't supply enough substance to make their deeper meaning stick. It has presentation, but not presence.

Sometimes unintentionally funny but consistently entertaining biblical epic. The film is divided into five sections: the Great Flood, Cain and Abel, the Tower of Babel, Abraham, then Sodom and Gomorrah. The effects for recreating Noah's Ark and the flood scene are very well done. Of course, it's amusing to see actors like John Huston (Noah) or George C. Scott (Abraham) overplay their parts.
