The two main stars (Delon and Belmondo) seem to be having fun together in this gangster flick. It wanders around a lot. But it has its moments, including one mob hit which seemingly inspired a similar scene in the first Godfather movie. The humor is not quite as funny as it wants to be.

I like the director (Jacques Deray), but I saw a terrible dubbed version of this film in the theater. After seeing that poor excuse for a print, I never wanted to see another movie again. It was that painful to sit through. However, the original language was French, and I believe if I ever got the chance to see it properly it would be a whole lot better.
