Hitchcockian thriller of a young girl who goes missing and people think the mother is imagining she ever existed. Laurence Olivier is good as the detective investigating the case, no surprise, But shout-out to actor Keir Dullea who uses his otherwise dull demeanor to swing back around and give a pretty creepy performance.

While not wild about Otto Preminger before, I really liked this movie. It exceeded my expectations. I wanted to see it before the remake came out. I think it was surprising and a good look into mental illness. Carol Lynley is good and it's a shame we don't hear much about her today. This movie excels where movies like The Forgotten and Flightplan fail miserably.
