The story is about an eccentric professor with a knack for building weird and wonderful machinery can't seem to be able to catch a break. Things change when he build a revolutionary car, but a foreign government uses underhanded techniques to have the design for themselves. This movie is a musical gold with jolly moments with happy and family, but out of nowhere the movie turns gears and goes ape shit on us just like "Willy wonk and the chocolate factory" (1978) .

The children's story is brought to life, with lots of fun and imagination. Any more where Dick Van Dyke sings and dances is a good one to me.

A magical children's tale in the vein of Mary Poppins. There are some creative and whimsical visuals and a villain who genuinely terrified me as a child. Dick Van Dyke is actually quite good here in a parallel performance to his genial chimney sweep from Mary Poppins.

A great kids movie. One of Dick Van Dykes earlier films about an inventor that has made many strange inventions but cannot make ends meet financially. He creates an amazing car that has some very unusual and interesting features. This is a very family oriented movie, its a lot like his other works, such as Mary Poppins, and it has a free flowing storyline like Charlie and the Chocolate factory. The screenplay was even attributed in part to Rohl Dahl. I still get a kick out of this film when I have the chance to see it.
