Independent horror typically comes with bad acting. Thus, it is excusable here and the dialogue is humorous enough to slide by and keep one entertained. The big problem with the film is the final twist. The first twist is easy enough to figure out, but the second is just plain annoying and saps what credibility is left right out the window (but they must set up the sequel, right?!?). This is too bad since it had a chance to end several times on a more than spooky note. Sigh.

Nifty independent thriller that has a brooding atmosphere and plays clever tricks with its audience, though the audience also has to endure Lin Shaye's awful performance. Final Grade: B-

Much like what happened with The Vanishing, as soon as I figured out what was going on early on, I lost interest quickly. Still, it is a good story with a nice twist, but it's too easy to see and spoiled it for me.
