Andy Griffith gives a powerhouse performance as a drifter with a golden voice that becomes a music superstar. Of course the power goes to his head and he develops a megalomaniac persona. Griffith became better known as the kindhearted lead in his own television show. But here he is almost unrecognizable as the uncouth yet charismatic celebrity. Patricia Neal is the vulnerable but virtuous other half.

Andy Griffith as a country boy who has nothing then has everything & back to nothing again.WOW!!! I cant believe I hadnt heard of this flick earlier.What a GREAT movie
