A small club of characters knock about a drafty mansion in Scotland looked after by a hatchet faced servant who delivers orange pips to the person who will be murdered next. Some dubious stereotyping of Scottish characters transpires. Watson is wonderfully baffled throughout and has some nice comic moments although the "old salt" gives him a fair run for his money in comedy value. Stiff-upper lip war message delivered by Holmes at the end of the film as was standard for Holmes during this period. One of my favourites of the Rathbone Holmes series.
