A completely involving and suspenseful noir/horror film. The sense of foreboding that falls over the entire movie is unshakable and the plot is rooted in solid characters, so that when the twist ending eventually occurs, it makes sense and doesn't seem to come out of left field. A film about jealousy and dread.

An original master of suspense, before Hitchcock. Even if you figure out what's going on, the atmosphere and characters and a sense of dread create a true masterpiece of horror.
