As a comedy, "Limelight" isn't one of Chaplin's funniest. But as a drama, it's arguably the most powerful thing the screen legend ever produced. You can feel the personal touch the story and lead character acquired from the writer, director, and star's own life.

I'm glad to have seen Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton together, despite the fact that this film isn't as funny as the rest of the films they have done.

By far not Chaplin's best, but quite good it still is. Limelight has a sad tone in regards to show business and love, which seems to have been mirroring Chaplin's feelings about his own career. Claire Bloom's performance is a slight blemish on the film as a whole, but sweet moments like seeing Buster Keaton and Charlie making funny on stage together make this more than worth seeing.
