Steamboat Bill Jr. review
Daniel Corleone - wrote on 01/29/2012
William Canfield Jr. (Keaton) reunites with his father William "Steamboat Bill" Canfield Senior (Torrence). Steamboat Bill is disappointed upon seeing his peculiar son who knows the John James King's (McGuire) daughter Kitty (Byron). Canfield senior gets imprisoned for a crime and his son tries to free him. A cyclone arrives while it changes the direction of the families involved. The production is large and direction was superb. Though it had a few coincidental incidents, this is one of the best film's created during its time. It showcases the talented Keaton in full physical display despite the light and non-nonsensical plot. Three Ages is still the best Keaton picture in my perception, though Steamboat Bill Jr. comes in a close second.
