Full of varying emotions and beautiful images, and one of the few Venice-set movies that are so immersive and so grounded in the city aesthetic that you could almost claim to have been there even if you haven't.

beautiful film. made me wish I was in Venice the whole time I was watching it. Rossano Brazzi has always been one of my favorite pieces of vintage eye-candy and this film shows him off quite well. I would say this is a perfect movie to watch on a rainy day, when you really want to be somewhere else.

Probably my favorite David Lean film, because Katharine Hepburn has the personality to carry this movie. Most of Lean's films bore me. However this made Venice interesting and exciting. Recommended for someone who's interested in travelling to Italy.
