I'm not really sure what type of film this movie was trying to be, as it seems to switch genres midway through. it starts out as sort of an absurdist comedy, then moves to a coming-of-age tale, set against the gangster genre. The ending assumes sort of a tragicomedy feeling. It is this constant switching of tone that makes the film less than what it could have been. The best scenes are in the middle, when the young hero is struggling with his morality amid a rough and tumble gangster culture. The ending feels sudden and I never got how the hero's magnetic powers came to be or came into play; they seem to show up when the movie conveniently needs them to. I enjoyed the production design and setting, but the ADD plot disappointed me.
