16 Blocks is entertaining enough, but the lack of any real momentum prevents it from becoming anything more than a mildly engaging actioner.

Detective Jack Mosley (Bruce Willis) is tasked to bring Eddie to testify against corrupt cops. The plot is revealed after more than an hour and the way Eddie talked was somewhat annoying. Action was decent and the conclusion was alright. Bruce Willis was solid. The picture could have had a better soundtrack and supporting cast. Most scenes however show the intelligence of Mosley such as the ambulance and recording his conversation with a fellow colleague. A decent thriller, 16 blocks is a worthy look.

This movie was just going through the motions. Generic to it's core.

I did not like this movie. Mos Def was the closest to comic relief this movie got. It is dull, cliched, and confusing. A bunch of times I kept thinking I'd missed a scene. There is no back-round story to the main character, which makes a lot of the scenes confusing. The story is one you might find on a season of 24. Only 24 adds suspense, and good action sequences. In this movie it's just them walking around most of the time. The only thing I liked about this movie were the performances of Bruce Willis and Mos Def. Other than that, it was a suspense-less, snore-fest, not worth your time.

The plot's pretty predictable and thin and, for a Richard Donner-directed film, there are surprisingly uninventive action sequences. The best part is Mos Def's slightly insane and engaging character. I think Bruce Willis kind of phones it in on this one.

A film that struggles to pass the time.

Action: 2/3 + Comedy: 0.5/2 + Good vs Evil: 1/1 + Love/Sex: 0/1 + Special Effects: 0.5/1 + Plot: 0.5/1 + Music: 1/1 = 5.5/10 or 55%. Boring and forgettable yawner that finds Mos Def summoning Marlan Wayans as a character. He's a little easier to understand than Little Nicky, but not much. Bruce Willis plays an unstoppable alcoholic cop... again. Yawn.

Although a predictable plot, I still liked Willis and though it was engaging.
