Though a beautiful film, it just doesn't quite work for me. Visually it's stunning unlike anything before, but it's quite a bore. The story, just doesn't quite make sense to me, I must admit, I'm not into sci-fi like a lot of others, but, see this once, and then go see his far superior film Dr. Strangelove.

This is another masterpeice from legendary filmaker Stanley Kubrick, one which is both visually stunning and eerily beleivable. Uses the bestspecial effects for that time, even better than some used today.

If ever there was a Kubrick film worth the repeated viewings that many seem to mandate with his work, this is the one. You could make educated assumptions on the connections between the beginning and middle segments upon first viewing, but good luck on trying to make any sense of that ending. With fantastic visuals set to bombastic orchestra, wildly creative and puzzling narrative means, and immaculate special effects, this is one true 'Odyssey' that you won't forget.

Kubrick's masterpiece. Loads of symbolism and commentaries regarding humans' relationship with technology. A movie for people who like to think. Here, one can find a tune that can be found in movies where a character or a group of characters go through a great realization or an accomplishment of a major goal. This is an epic that cannot be missed by anyone who loves the cinema.

Cold cold cold. Kubrick neither understood nor seemed to care about Humanity at all. No wonder Tarkovsky hated this film. If this film is beautiful at all, as many claim, it is only in a completely sterile, detached way. Stanley Kubrick is like the opposite of Terrence Malick.

Can be easily the best movie ever made. An epic film that takes you to a journey of mistery, suffering, and yet, hope. One of the best scripts ever (if not the best, considering that you can't tell wich came first, if the book or the adaptation) Perfect music, amazing effects and top quality directing. Philosophy, science, and religion united. The last lost only worth a entire movie. The best Kubrick to me.

I think I said Lawrence of Arabia was the most beautiful movie I had ever seen. This is a close 2nd. With a great musical score, special effects that are better than most released toda;y along with an eerie computer - sets this movie apart!

This film is a head trip, for sure - and it's not the easiest one to watch. But for sheer visual style and audacity, this gets four stars. Throw in the classical score and "Hal" and you have a sci-fi classic.

I am going to piss many people off with this rating. But I just couldn't get into it, couldn't sit through it and have no desire to try again. The worst part is I love Sci-fi and Stanley Kubrick.
