It's a true cinematic masterpiece and one of the greatest movies ever made. It was a milestone for special effects, and the entire science fiction genre.

This is not hollywood drama, in this movie you think for yourself. It isnt cold film, although it may seem to those who are used to hollywood dramas. This film has much more to offer than those dramas. The gratest feeling in film is that kind of tragic but epic feeling about humanity. And that is something Cameron and Malick cant achieve even with all their effects. Space is really great experience in this movie, but this is not just space experience, after all that is not film or any art, this movie creates feelings and that is what film is all about. So, its influental film that still cant be beaten. Even though you can feel its age it still is one of best films.

A unique film, admirable for the creative risk for its time. There are some parts that move slow, and some of the 4 acts are better than others, but it's still worth a watch, mainly for the Jupiter Mission story which features the famous battle between the astronauts and super computer Hal. The final act is still pretty mind-blowing today. Definitely a good watch, though it is a little long at times. Settle in and marvel and what Kubrick gave us.

Enigmatic. While it contains some of the most breathtaking visuals and stirring uses of classic music, I could watch a kaleidoscope while listening to opera, and it wouldn't be the greatest film ever.

Quite simply the greatest film of all time. The mise-en-scene is unrivaled to this day.

In 1968 you'd expect to have some sort of Styrofoam spray-painted spaceship with thick strings that are easy to see. Any other director would have done the cheap thing and stayed with that, but not Stanley Kubrick. Kubrick instead made affects and spaceships that still to this day people go ga-ga over. A masterpiece, and the best film of the 1960's. Even though barely anything that happened in this movie came true, this movie will remain a part of history.

Very interpretative symbolically and a little over-indulgent at times (did we really need to see like ten minutes of space travel?) The famous plot with HAL is intriguing and suspenseful, but it's only a portion of the expansive film. I'm not as on board the 2001 train as most people are, but it is definitely a significant cinematic achievement.

My father made me watch it at a young age and I was transfixed. This film is definitely not for everyone. It really depends on what you are looking for in science fiction. If you like your sci-fi about ideas over lightsabers, then 2001 is the ultimate film.

2001: A Space Odyssey. Now, I know this film is a great symbolic work with all sorts of symbolism and symbolic symbols and that it was revolutionary for the time, but honestly, I thought this film was utter shitfire. It made no sense, it was weird and above all, it was tedious. Seriously, it jumps from monkeys to a sociopathic computer then to a bunch of flashing lights and colour changing eyeballs, mercifully ending with a scene so amazingly obscure in meaning, it defies logic: a giant baby in a transparent ball. I live for films, but this peice of balls is just ass. Utter ass.
