This was very entertaining. I had no idea until I read the other reviews that this was based on a true story so I can forgive the film for being a little predictable.

21 is a good way to spend two hours, but not the best way. It's one of those movies that will stay with you for a week or so then flit away with the rest of the halfway decent films you've ever seen. It's all flash, not enough substance.

A lot of surface gloss can't disguise the plot deficiancies in this flashy, but uninteresting thriller; its very dull for fans of the card game, and very uninformative for the uninitiated. In Blackjack, 21 is a winner, in movies, 21 is a bust. Final Grade: C-

"21" isn't all that impressive, but it certainly was fun to watch. Anything with Kevin Spacey and anything with Laurence Fishburne (one of the greatest cinematic Shakespearean actors alive) is worth watching. Based on true events, this film about getting away with counting cards is brilliant in its delivery of a wild and crazy story full of twists, turns, heists, and turn of the cards. Sturgess' accent flops every now and again, but the kid's still learning...give him time.

Entertaining, if a little predictable. I mean, who would have guessed the straight-A student would become tempted by the glitter of Las Vegas?!? Of course, he'll redeem himself. Gotta have a happy ending! I think what adds a little more weight is that "21" is based on a true story. Sometimes the truth IS stranger than fiction. How in the world did these students actually do this? The movie stops just short of actually explaining how you count cards, but the little it did reveal about signals among the "team" made my head hurt. Maybe I was once clever enough to understand the reality. But now, I can only be mildly intrigued by a crowd-pleasing motion picture.

This was an unusual experience for me, as I was sitting there and thinking about all the gaping plot holes, inconsistencies and the implausibility of the script, I still found myself enjoying the movie. Our protagonist was a likable guy, I think thats why the movie worked well. Clocking in at two hours it sure didn't feel that long as something was always happening, probably to distract you from thinking about it and while it was you could see how things were going to unfold twenty minutes in. Most of the things about this movie scream awful so I don't really know whats wrong with me.
