An aggressively blunt crime drama that proves to us that Spike Lee is one of the most provocative modern directors in the business today.

Probably the most overlooked film of Edward Norton's career. This movie slid under the radar. Edward Norton proves to me once again why he is my favorite actor. His character is developed well on screen despite it spanning only the 24hours of his life. It has all the ingredients for a movie that men love. It brings home the reality that there are good people in prison. Great movie t shw to a good-hearted person on the wrong side of the law.

The writing in this Spike Lee drama is superb and the idea of a man wrapping up his relationships with family and friends before a long prison term is aided by the way 25th Hour's characters relate to each other in real terms, with real emotion. The movie is a mess of gritty emotions, none of which I think are completely resolved, as it should be.
