The one liners fly as fast as the bullets and F bombs in Walter Hill's action comedy 48 Hours. For a buddy movie, the tone is surprisingly dark and gritty. If not for the light banter between Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte, it could easily be mistaken for any standard gritty and dirty 80s cop movie. Special mention to James Remar for playing an especially nasty baddie.

Classic 80s buddy-cop comedy that paved the way for so many others (Rush Hour, Bad Boys, Lethal Weapon - lots more, I'm sure). The pairing works, Murphy is at the top of his game and a good time was had by all.

Not the original "White/Black Buddy Cop" film, but probably the one that everything since then has modeled itself after. This is the clear inspiration for Rush Hour (1998). Eddie Murphy steals every scene that he's in, this is clearly his film where he made the leap from really good stand-up comedian/SNL actor, to "Movie Star." I rate this film as 2.5 stars because it's not that great of a film, but I also say, if you're a fan of any "buddy cop movie" since 1982, then you have to see this.

I am a big fan of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise, so I was expecting a lot when I heard of this movie. This is far different from what I was expecting. Murphy is a little more dialed back in this movie than he is in the Beverly Hills Cop series. Nick Nolte is the main star of the flick and is okay. I did like this movie and the villain was done very well, to keep the movie going. I wish they had a better soundtrack t go with this. I love a good 80's music movie. Little re-watchability, but it is worth the watch for buddy-cop movie fans.

A great buddy action comedy. Eddie Murphy is really at his best in this kind of movie. The movie is very 80s but still very fun to watch.

For the 80s, this was a funny action flick. Keeping in mind the era, it still delivers some good laughs. True, the action is a little lame. Nolte and Murphy are worth seeing.

I just saw this and I was very dissatisfied. If only it could have been 4x better and had a little more humor or something. Was Nick Nolte ever hot? Was he? Oh ew.
