Too Cheesy...

I always like children’s movies because I’m a kid at heart but this one is one of those few exceptions. There’s not much story that can be found here unless one would like to see fake animals helping out the characters. Even though I did enjoy watching Jodie Foster as an agoraphobic writer (her trip to the island was pretty funny), I feel like she could’ve been on a different (and better) movie than waste her talents here. I didn’t care much for Gerard Butler because I’m not a fan, but I didn’t care for his character either. On the other hand, I thought Abigail Breslin is pretty good and I like her in pretty much every movie she’s in. It’s hard for me to give this movie a bad rating because everything seems to be trying too hard. I agree that they have something here, …

Wasting Leonidas and Agent Starling

Nim's Island is a pathetic excuse for an adventure flick which fails in so many levels due to poor acting.
The story mainly focuses on how Nim tries to survive on deserted island all by herself when her father got accidentally lost at sea. She's then accompanied in her quest by creatures that are almost magical and most likely unrealistic. Meanwhile two other stories happen simultaneously, on the other side of the world there's Jodie Foster seeking to find the right words to put on the adventure book she's trying to finish. On the other hand Gerard Butler is now drifting in an ocean of unparallel horizon on a sinking boat and a sense of urgency to get back to his daughter all alone on an island in the middle of nowhere. The movie falls short mainly because the story was too shallow and …
