You Don't Mess with the Zohan review

Daniel Corleone - wrote on 07/13/2011

Adam Sandler has made some of his fair share of decent (Mr. Deeds, Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, etc.) and good (Anger Management, Wedding Singer, Click, Just Go With it, etc.). Unfortunately, this film ranks lower than his previous bomb shells like The Waterboy and Little Nicky. A dumb plot, moronic accents and insignificant cameo’s are present. More things to loathe? The monotonous lines and gestures that he thinks made him cool and an idiotic scene where both of his feet beats up a character. So many forgettable characters, yes parts made me laugh. The essence of the film? The hummus? The dogs? The insane reference to his genitals? I felt this film tried too hard at everything. To be funny and have a lesson. At least in the end, he did what he always dreamed of as a kid, to …

Sandler's worst by far... And most of his are bad!

Most professional critics hate Adam Sandler. They have hated every single movie he has been in and despite that, some of his movies have had huge cult followings and are loved by millions. Maybe those millions are all idiots? Who knows. Nevertheless, I think this time, the critics are 100 percent right about his latest movie, The Zohan. I've always seen Sandler's films as The Three Stooges like, totally idiotic but somehow irresistible and yes, funny. Not this time though. The Zohan is just too awful and even the biggest Sandler fans are going to have a very hard time liking this movie. It's bad in every possible way. The acting is horrible, Sandler talks with a stupid Middle Eastern accent the whole film. If you hated his Waterboy voice, that's nothing compared to this one. The …

Don't Mess with this Movie... Period

Don't Mess with the Zohan... no seriously, don't - avoid this movie like the plague. Other than a few chuckles at the action sequences, there is nothing funny here. Not the story or cameos or hummus references or not hackey-cat or old ladies getting boinked or the bulge in Sandler's pants or saying the same phrases over and over again... not even the inclusion of The Jesus or the delectable Emmanuelle Chriqui can save this mess of a film.

I can only imagine a lot of people involved did this out of a favor or out of money. Adam Sandler has been funny in the past, heck, he's actually acted in the past (see Punch Drunk Love, even if I didn't really like it) but this is like a massive leap backwards for no discernible reason. He's lucky the Love Guru came out the same year, or I think …

Lots of lewd Sandler stuff, but also some laughs.

Zohan Dvir is a legendary Mossad agent known for his unique skills and indestructible nature but, unlike his current violent job, Zohan's dream is to become a hairdresser and bless the world with the gift of silky-soft and styled hair. He seems destined to never know this dream though, until he decides to fake his own death during a battle with Palestinian freedom fighter/terrorist The Phantom. One smuggled flight later, Zohan arrives in New York to take up a position at the salon of Paul Mitchell but finds that he cannot just walk into this world of styling and washing. Refusing to work in an electric store, Zohan finds work as a cleaner in a small salon run by a Palestinian woman, where he waits his chance to prove his skills.

This is a classic Adam Sandler movie: Crude, …

One of the Worst Films I have EVER seen.

Adam Sandler's latest attempt at immature goof humor, fails miserably. The cast is primarily made up of Middle-eastern actors, oppose to the gaggle of friends that Sandler usually throws in his films. Rob Schneider and Nick Swarsdon make appearances as a Palestinian cab driver and a squirmish young american who befriends Zohan. The "world's greatest Israeli Counter-terrorist Agent" fakes his own death after coming to the realization that capturing terrorist such as The Phantom, portrayed by John Turturro, is a waste of time, as the cycle is never-ending. The trailer and tagline themselves are disgraces to film alone, showing the true stupidity in the movie.

I can see that Sandler was trying to get back to his roots with his old school goofball comedy and characters, but none of it …
