"About a Boy" overcomes predictability with sentimentality, wit, and sincerity.

The story is about a man is taught how to act like a man by a young boy who continues to pester him into hanging out and being there for him while the man claims he can leave any woman with no commitment what so ever. This movie was heartwarming and funny to watch. Hugh Grant and Nicholas Hoult both worked well together in the movie.

The combination of Nick Hornby, Toni Collette, Badly Drawn Boy and an unusually bearable performance by Hugh Grant makes for Bridget Jones for boys.

You need at least 3. The way this movie genuinely unfolds and redeems and rebuilds its characters is a joyful, natural sight to see, accompanied by great performances from the entire cast and excellent music from Badly Drawn Boy. This should be in the top 1000.

To me Hugh Grant is the male equivalent of Julia Roberts, and just like Julia Roberts, I only like a handful of films from either one. This is one of Grant's better efforts and I admit, it's a pretty good film.

A very human and natural comedy - one that doesn't need to be in-your-face with its humor, but instead relies on natural emotional beats to tell its story. Hugh Grant has never been better and the writing is what brings the film home, for sure.

This is an adorable story. Funny and touching. The "boy" (Nicholas Hoult) does a great job as the strange, misfit teen. Grant is classic-Grant as the funny, charming, lovable bad-boy. So cute!

With such a fantastic cast, how can the film fail? Hugh Grant plays the same character he plays in every other film...but does so very well. Toni Collette is fabulous, as to be expected. Rachel Weisz is stunning, and Nicholas Hutchison epitomizes the awkward middle schooler in all of us. The story is fun, the characters are interesting to watch, and ultimately, you walk away with a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Don't bother reading the book by the same name, just watch the movie! You're getting the better story.

Every time I watch this movie, it makes me want to give Hugh Grant a big hug because his character needs some serious lovin'! I love that this film is a bit off-beat but not too much. The fact that Hugh Grant does not play a prince charming, like in most of his films, is also a big plus. It's a great flick to see if it's raining outside and you don't feel like going out.

All the actors are good and the story is not bad either. I would recommend it for a good time.
