Deliciously Charming, and Utterly Hilarious

Before I begin this review, I will warn you that I may overuse the word "charming," as there is simply no other way to describe almost any aspect of Julie & Julia. Everything from the acting, the cinematography, the stories, the music, is charming, and there is hardly another way to explain it. This is a film I fell in love with, and enjoyed to the very end. When the movie ends, you want more. Indeed, I was enchanted, delighted, and yes- charmed.
Julie & Julia is based off of two books: "Julie & Julia" by Julie Powell, and "My Life in France," by Julia Child. The film tells two separate stories, about two aspiring chefs and writers. One is about Julia Child, a joyful and butter-loving woman who falls in love with Paris after moving there with her husband, and attempts to find a …

"Julie and Julia" is very entertaining movie, watching it is relaxing. I love the light yet touching story. It is very positive, it is very enjoyable to watch. i actually thinking (in the beginning) that the director will make a not-so-good transition of scenes (julia story shifting to julie story), but i eventually it was a job well done, the director done it smoothly, she just let the two stories run equally in terms of time ( I mean, there are elements both in the two stories but it is not presented one after the other, which is good- in terms of time span of the presentation of the stories that it is not showed as "long for julia- short for julie- short for julia- long for julie".)
Meryl Streep is, indeed, a good performer.
In general, "Julie and Julia" is a MUST SEE FILM.

Can 'You' De-Bone a Duck?

So, I watched 'Julie & Julia' this morning. Well, I tried to watch it, but was unexpectedly stopped about an hour into the movie when it started skipping. I removed the DVD to investigate and noticed a massive chip on the outer edge of the disc. This brought my screening to an immediate halt; which sucked because I was actually enjoying the movie.
After running a few errands then this morning (otherwise known to me as a very unsuccessful journey Christmas shopping); I made it to Blockbuster to exchange the damaged disc for a good one. I returned to my apartment to finish the remaining hour.
I will honestly admit that I more than enjoyed the movie but am under serious consideration of adding it to my DVD collection.
First, the way the movie was cut together is great. It's …

I was very VERY skeptical [what? that's not like me at all...] when I walked into the theatre to see this movie, being surrounded by mainly women and their obese husbands, all holding several concession snacks and toppling popcorn on their waists, however, when the movie started, I wasn't annoyed as much as I thought I would be by the audience I was watching this movie with. This was hysterical! Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci are just the most adorable couple and Amy Adams adds the much-needed modern sparkle to the story. I didn't necessarily buy the ending so much as the rest of the movie, but it was still a wonderful movie that will be mine when it comes to DVD. A great, friendly date movie that Katie and I had much fun watching together.
