Zany , funny, and sometimes a bit creepy black-comedy from Martin Scorsese.

It takes a bit long to pick up, but "After Hours" proves to be mostly worth the wait.

A typically wacky and surreal "adventure" when an ordinary guy gets caught up in the off beat antics of a collection of "zany" characters when he strays out of his own neighbourhood. I usually find this type of film desperately unfunny and despite an above par cast and director, this is no exception.

Though successful at being a work of particularly grim jocularity, 'After Hours' is essentially the cinematic equivalent of a joke without a punchline. If the script had aimed less for Kafkaesque nightmares and more for farcical frivolities, the end product might have been a bit more satisfying to me, if admittedly not as bold.

Underrated Scorsese gem. The madcap flavor, the odd cameos, the sheer energy of the film is a departure from typical Scorsese. It's a darker version of a screwball comedy and, often, the humor of the film comes from the epic weirdness of what is going on.

It should have been lots better. However, it was full of laughs.
