After the first fifty minutes, the only thing that held my interest was Angelina's very red lips. The plot is tried and predictable. I spent most of the movie arguing with the screen about how it was making me dumber.

The acting is all fine, although the performances are more or less safe, with some slight overacting except from the psychopath who is actually perfect. Eastwood directs in a well realized style and setting and it never seems forced or unrealistic. You do not learn that much about any of the characters but that is actually okay because the story is interesting. They stay true to the actually events which I always appreciate, and they put everything together just right to make it all work. It just is a fascinating true story that I am glad was told. Pros: One great performance, an interesting story and time period is well realized. Historical accuracy. Cons: Some over acting in the lead due to seemingly forced Oscar baiting.

I just can't get enough Clint Eastwood in my life! And, this one is definitely worth watching. I have nothing against the police, but I just love movies with cops as the bad guys.

Not a typical Clint Eastwood film, as this has the makings of a big budget period film, but nonetheless, Eastwood turns in another great directional effort and Angelina Jolie continues to impress me with her dramatic follow-up to A Mighty Heart (I'm ignoring the craptastic Wanted). Jolie commands the movie as her character deals with horrific events and a corrupt system. There are a few times I thought it was over, as the last 30 minutes deals you with stuff that would have sufficed as final scene moments, but otherwise, this is a strong, dramatic film with great performances.

I just saw this movie today and I loved it. Any movie that can mess with my emotions is aces in my book. If you are depressed, in a funk, or trying really hard to stay out of a depressed funk, do not go see this movie. I was so angry during most of this movie. I wanted to reach through the screen and punch somebody. This is based on a true story and I can't even imagine this happening. What this poor lady must have went through. When the lights came back on in the theater everybody was silent and walked out without speaking. Angelina Jolie gave a powerful performance that I am sure will be considered during Oscar season.
