It's an excellent film that manages to include as much humor as it does thoughtful commentary on race, gang violence, war, and generational values.

Out of all his movies I think this is the best by far. In Clint's old age he still kicks ass. Among many things it shows how cold family can be and how we can find family in strangers, willing to lay his own life down for people he hated.

Watch as Clint Eastwood tries to spit out as many racial slurs as possible in a 2-hour time-span. Pretty good though. I must-see only to see that Eastwood still had it at such an old age.

There's lot a lot of deviation from the standard coming of age tale laid out here, though the Asian American racism themes are fresh. Clint Eastwood is appropriately gruff, but old Clint Eastwood can play this role in his sleep. The real star, for me, was the film's use of its minimal score and its supporting cast of mostly unknown Asian actors.

This is my favorite film so far that Clint Eastwood has directed and that says something because he hasn't directed a bad film yet. Eastwood is one of the greatest filmmakers in Hollywood right now and I love how he keeps shooting out freash ideas. See this film!

I'm reluctantly only giving this film 2.5 and not 3 stars, but as good as it was, I felt like I've seen the old guy helps oung boy film before, and I have, it's the Karate Kid. But another Eastwood classic.
