Biographical western about the famous Sioux chief Sitting Bull. For a '50s release, it is actually quite sympathetic to the Native Americans' plight. But it does kind of play into the noble savage tropes. Veteran character actor J. Carrol Naish (an Irishman who played many nationalities in his career) is not bad in the role. Dale Robertson shows up as a token good American soldier. The movie honestly looks kind of ugly with very grainy cinematography and poorly staged fight scenes. Unlike a lot of 'cowboys and indians' movies from this period, it actually seems to have good intentions. It just looks cheap.
