200 years after the death of Ellen Ripley she is cloned by yet more misguided scientists in order to breed the species for their research on board a military vessel. Alien 3 tried to follow the template of the first film with some flawed success and Alien Resurrection does the same for its sequel Aliens with similar results. The very contrived premise is one that you have to accept considering Ripley died at the end of the previous film but the whole alien hybrid concept is a little harder to swallow. Joss Whedon actually disowned the script after various studio rewrites but it does have some very nice moments; particularly the scene in which Ripley confronts "herself" and the idea of self aware androids consumed with self loathing. Action: 2/3 + Comedy: 0.5/2 + Good vs Evil: 0.5/1 + Love/Sex: 0.5/1 + Special Effects: 0.5/1 + Plot: 1/1 + Music: 1/1 = 6/10 or 60%.

Jean-Pierre Jeunet brings over a portion of the cast from his film The City of Lost Children, and they are much more welcoming than the prior cast of the third installment! Weaver delivers another inspired performance of great range, which reminds us of why she is the queen of badasses.

It's this odd blend of fairy-tale horror motifs that just don't blend well at all, in addition to a few casting questions, that almost tank the project. Winona Ryder as a robot is beyond camp quality bad. Overall, an upgrade from …

Unfortunately it met with equally mixed critical reception and even worse box office numbers as its predecessor.

The very loose plot of the film takes place 200 years after the events of Alien 3. A team of scientists has cloned Ripley aboard the USM (United Military Systems) Auriga using blood samples from Fury 161. They have done this to extract the Alien Queen inside of her. There are plenty of …
