The Informant! review

A supposed comedy version of The Insider. Mark Whitacre (Matt Damon) works for Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) and has insider information in which FBI agent Brian Shepard (Scott Bakula) would like to investigate in certain corporate crimes. Real highlights here would be the solid performance of Damon, screenplay and style of direction. Best lines were: Mark - " Paranoid is what people who are trying to take advantage of you call you to get you to drop your guard! " and "here are other ones, butterflies, they're orange, blue and yellow too but no poison wings. They're just flying around, looking dangerous, getting by on their looks." Humor was dry though and other background characters were not as interesting. The Informant! has certain plot twists, and those who enjoy true to life …

"The Informant!" by Yojimbo

The Informant! is based on the true story of corporate whistle blower Mark Whitacre who came to the FBI with evidence of global price fixing, but caused their case to become threatened when it became obvious that he was a compulsive liar and embezzler. The film is a kind of comic throwback to the cold war thrillers of the 70s with the espionage being perpetrated by big business rather than the super powers. In fact it is the tone that Soderbergh chose for the film that never really sat well with me; namely the soundtrack that consists of a constant stream of cheesy lift muzak gives it the feeling of a light-hearted sitcom and although Matt Damon puts in a winning performance as Whitacre, the format really contains little more than stream of scenes involving men in ties having meetings …

Matt Damon Bombs

Megan Fox or Matt Damon? Megan Fox or Matt Damon? This was my quandary as I stood in front of the box office this afternoon. While part of me was curious to see if ‘Jennifer’s Body’ could chew all of the bite taken by its previews; I also felt that it would probably be a bit too sophomoric in the end. To me, ‘The Informant!’ seemed like a vote for cinematic intelligence – boy was I gonna be sorry!
I really hate to pan this movie because Matt Damon, as Mark Whitacre, truly acts his posterior (and his prosthetic nose) off in this snoozer of a flick. That fact alone makes this barely watch-able, since he’s in 99.9% of the scenes. Directed by Steven Soderbergh (‘Michael Clayton, ‘Pleasantville’, ‘Good Night, and Good Luck’); the script plays out like a one note …

Matt Damon is fantastic in this movie.

Not everything works perfectly but "The Informant" is somehow unique and anomalous, it's really hard not to like it. The plot thickens and gets more and more interesting as questions are raised about Whitacre's insanity; the story seems to repeatedly invoke suspense novels by Grisham and at a point is a bit similar to "The Firm." "The Informant" has some plot twists, but twists themselves aren't enough to define it; it's more interested in being a complex and in-depth study of Whitacre character. Another peculiar touch is the voice-over narration as Damon's inner monologue, that's really strong. Matt Damon, mustached and 25 pounds fatter, gives an amazing performance, bringing the right tone to a character who could be everything, a genius, a criminal mastermind, an idiot or a terribly …

Steven Soderbergh's new film is really informative

The informant! is one of those movies which people will be disappointed that it isn't this wacky comedy but this really amazing and also great film that has comedy but not to the point of obsurduty. Matt Damon on this role is great he is really enjoyable and also different compare to other films he started. I love also the music in this film lot's a people will say is a flaw but one of the things is that the score is suppose to be how absurd and how crazy this guy goes in the event. I also love ths supporting character at which some of them are comedians for example Patton Oswalt is a lawyer and many other that i forgot and I'm to lazy to check it up. This film though was really good and I do feel that people should be watching this movie for many reasons. As a Steven Soderbergh movie, …
