Thought it was okay as I was watching it, took it down a star after finding out afterwards that several liberties were taken and there's quite a few inaccuracies. While it was somewhat entertaining, we never really got to know Dillinger or Purvis (Depp and Bale, respectively) in this film, other than one's a bank robber and the other is an FBI agent. That's it. However, Marion Cottilard is very good as Dillinger's girlfriend, she's pretty much the only saving grace, though the cinematography and art direction is pretty good too.

Nothing too special here. A solid movie. Action is better than I expected, some scenes were amazing, and I learned some. It was missing the IT factor. It was way too thin and not emotional enough to be an Oscar nom. Collateral is better.

I really would like to give it a higher rating, but there was something that I just didn't like. Depp is great and proves why he's probably the best actor in America right now. Michael Mann does a stellar job directing, but, as usual, he takes some liberties with the historical accuracy of the film. Marion Cotillard (a former Oscar winner) seems cartoonish. I also thought some other characters needed to be fleshed out more (Baby Face Nelson, J. Edgar Hoover). Overall, a must-see, but it could have been better.

An adequate crime film from director Mann. The story is decent and the acting is solid, but nothing here really stands out. It's good, but not as much as some made it out to be.
