It was a good movie, but so disappointing

So, disappointing.
Sure, the movie's "good" in the sense that the whole course of watching the movie is an enjoyable experience. It has very tense moments, parts where you feel like you yourself are paranoid (not a good stoney movie), and great surreal moments. The actors are all good; the direction is good; the plot is good.
But the ending is so disappointing.
Not the very ending, mind you. If you do shell out $11 to see this raging disappointment, pay attention to what DiCaprio says at the very end of the film and ask yourself "Did the plan work?" I'm sure you will have a very different answer.
Why was it so disappointing? Easy. All the elements were in there to set up this miraculous spectacle of an ending. Each element that was introduced could be interpreted in a number …

Shutter Island: The Truth Hurts

If Shutter Island has taught me anything, it's not the destination that counts, it's how you get there. With an amazing journey, coupled with a creep atmospere, it more than makes up for a rather predictable ending that masquerade as a twist.
We start off with marshal Edward Daniels and new partner Chuck Aule on a boat headed to the foreboding Shutter Island. An old Civil War encampment turned mental institution. On a mission to track down a missing woman, Daniels is also there to confront a patient named Laeddis, a pyromaniac responsible for his wife's death.
However, the guards, orderlies and patients are less than forthcoming. Daniels even suspects his new partner may not be on the up and up. It doesn't help that he keeps having troubling dreams and flashbacks to when he …
