The visuals are stunning and captivating at times, but the story is sub-par and the pantheistic theme has been done over and over again to better effect. When a movie needs to be seen in 3D to be properly enjoyed, something is wrong. Sad that this is the all-time box office champ.

The special effects are great, but the story is just Pocahontas in space. If your going to spend that much on special effects you can put out a bit more and have a descent story. I'm not really sure why some people love this movie so deeply. Also, I don't know whats new about emaciated blue cat people with plugs at the end of their braids. If your going for full on special effects give us something truly new.

A film that made me like the Sci-Fi genre again. Stunning visual effects and sound that makes you live in to the movie. The purpose of "Avatar" is propably very true and James Cameron shows it so you can see it. I can understand why so many people like it and why so many criticize it. It's not a movie you look at several times, it's kind of a "one-time-movie".

a great movie to watch just for the visual effects alone. The story line wasn't up to par with the effects. I thought the plot was good, but the story just didn't do it for me. Talk about too much hype

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this movie.Initially, I had low expectations and was intimidated by the length but the time went by fast. Yes, some of the storyline is predictable but the special/visual effects are great. I thought the creatures/environment of Pandora were fascinating and creative.

No more saying can be said about this. I truly respect Cameron's vision and idea, and I like (always like) the way he does things. My only complain (and, I have this right at this point) is the story, wich is obviously very predictable. I'd had change some things at the end, but at least it made sense. Avatar is an intelligent crossover with different kind of movies, but it delivers. Sad the masses need this kinda of naive flicks to pay attention to what we're doing to our home, the earth, and to us.

Avatar was the most beatiful movie I've ever seen. The third time I went to see it, I spent most of it looking at the beautiful colors and creations. The special effects reached a new level and the plot even grabs you and pulls you in. I ended up teary-eyed at several points. It was a little bit of Dances with Wolves meets the Smurfs, but in a well done unoffensive way. While some people saw the crazy, ex-military bad guy with scars over the top, I thought that little bit of the cheesinest helped bring you into the movie kept it from being TOO epic, which can put people off. All in all, I enjoyed it a lot and would recommend it to everyone.

Is it wrong that I got turned on by Zoe Saldana's Na'vi character? lol. It was a very good movie. I mean, it had Wes Studi in it. So, you know it's gotta be good.
