One of the very first comic book films, Tim Burton took one of the darkest villains and one of the most tormented heroes and turned them into one of the best action movies one can watch. The only reason to dislike this film is due to Kim Basinger, but overall, a wonderful picture (even despite having seen "The Dark Knight") that every Batman fan will enjoy!

The first of many. And, out of the bunch, one of the best. Certainly, the best of the first series of Batman movies.

Action: 3/3 + Comedy: 1/2 + Good vs Evil: 1/1 + Love/Sex: 0.5/1 + Special Effects: 0.5/1 + Plot: 0.5/1 + Music: 0/1 = 6.5/10 or 65%. While this film was a cultural phenomenan, even Prince's unofficial soundtrack scored a #1 hit, and it was the best Batman film at the time, Nicholson as the Joker is it's heart and soul. In this Bat-verse he creates Batman and delivers the most quotable line of the Batman film franchises. The Gotham backdrop is also a welcomed dark, Burton-esque nightmare fairytale. The good guys however, particularly Vivky Vale and her tag along news buddy, as well as Keaton, are more stale and uninteresting. Thus, their defeat of the heart and soul of the film leaves much to be desired.

Definitely a Burton film -- very dark and strange. Although I liked Nicholson as the Joker and Keaton as Batman, I didn't think the story flowed. It tried too hard.

In a close call, this is the best of the Batman movies. Michael Keaton is the best Batman this side of Adam West and Jack Nicholson created one of the most iconic figures in movie history as The Joker.

All Batman Begins did was make me want to watch this again. I thought this Batman was really good. Burton's quirky dark side brought a neat element to it and little Mikey did a surprisingly good job. (he was also Beetlejuice for Burton) Jack is Jack. Although it could have been shorter, there are still many memorable moments and I absolutely loved it when I was little and it still holds up. Good "comic book" movie.

I think the best of the Batman series as well. Jack Nicholson was great as the joker and Mr. Mom did well as Batman and Bruce Wayne. From the looks of it, The Dark Knight could over take this one.

Keaton makes the movie as you can tell from the fact that all other batman movies blow (though admittedly, so did Keaton's second attempt at Batman). Imparting the feel of Gotham was Burton's best contribution to this movie. You gotta love the parade scene!

The original Batman is still one of best in the series. Michael Keaton makes a surprisingly good choice as both Bruce Wayne and Batman. Strong story and strong characters make this a keeper.

The best complete "Batman" movie. It has a villain, it has a great hero, it has a good story, but it lacks a soul. While "Batman Begins" has a soul and an explanation, it does not have a good villain. Batman and Joker will always be #1.
