BEASTMASTER is a silly pulp fantasy flick that as Conan cash-ins go, is not half bad. Though made on a smaller budget, the film does have a uniquely grungy primordial style all its own. The sets and monster props are goofy looking but they fit the Conan inspired tone of the film. Marc Singer is an impressive physical specimen and admittedly wooden sometimes. But he's supported by Rip Torn as the wicked sorcerer and John Amos as his trusty sidekick. Tanya Roberts looks great naked but does poorly acting-wise. Honestly what is most impressive is the audiences' immediate liking of Singer's animal sidekicks whom today would definitely be CGI renditions.

Swords and sorcery nonsense with a straight-to-video feel. Amusingly camp and the Dr. Doolittle twist elevates it from the usual fantasy mire. It even inspired some hilariously bad sequels!

I don't know what is better in this movie: that it is unintentionally funny or fantastic fantasy elements. I was laughing when main character and his father threw that sharp think in man, they can easly kill him that way, but in this film that is not possible. but this film as i said is not just hilarious but it actually has some great fantasy moments. If you like fantasy dont miss it

The Beastmaster is a childhood favorite of mine that has remained a favorite. Lots of action, fun magic, and of course animal friends. A great movie from the heyday of B-movies. I would highly recommend it to adventure movie lovers! Classic.

A cult favorite of mine, Beastmaster is a Conan-esque film that follows Dar and his animal companions on a journey to stop the evil Maax from turning his rightful kingdom into a slaughtering ground. Magic, swords, animals - fun for all!
