Not as shocking as the 70s thrillers it resembles, but "The Ghost Writer" nicely reworks what made many of those movies so great with a modern political touch.

Roman Polanski's mystery thriller is a well directed drama. The political intrigue was suspenseful and the ominous tone reflected real life frustration and dread at the tail-end of the War on Terror. Pierce Brosnan is both compelling and pathetic as a tool of a politician. Ewan McGregor is cast well as the naive apolitical hack who uncovers a conspiracy.

A good watch! Keeps your interest. Got some pretty faces, not so nice people and politics in this story. An interesting cast collection. Ocean views of Mass. make for a nice setting. I recommend this one.

A slow burn of a thriller that relies more on character and intricate plot development than on explosive action sequences. Ewan McGregor and Pierce Brosnan are riveting here. Not to give anything away, but I found the last few minutes of the film an appropriate way to end such an effective and mysterious film.

An excellent suspense thriller. Well acted, well directed, and fast paced. Polanski's best film since the Pianist.

If this film wasn't directed by Roman Polanski, it would be really awful. The cast are bland, Kim Cattrall is embarrasing, but the atmosphere and the use of music, and one great final scene does enough to make you leave the cinema thinking it was all worth it. Just.
