From the cover I thought this movie was going to be average, but when I actually watched it I found it to be legitimately funny and sincere and quirky and just overall very good. I'd recommend it.

Saw it at Redbox, Decided to give it a chance & really expected just another crappy Hollywood comedy so when this movie was actually good, I was suprised.Im also suprised that I enjoyed a movie that had Andy Garcia in it.I just wonder why I havent heard of City Island earlier

This movie definitely had some very funny moments. But for a comedy, I thought it should've been a little more funny. On the other hand, it made a great drama!

I've seen this movie before, and you probably have, too -- back when it was called "I Like It Like That" or "The Brothers McMullen" or something similar. Nevertheless, I found "City Island" sweet, entertaining and well-acted. Not great cinema and somewhat predictable, but worth a watch.
