Stately costume drama with a strong cast. Richard Chamberlain is good in the duel roles as the corrupt King Louis and the good twin Philippe. Jenny Agutter looks beautiful here and Patrick McGoohan is solid as a dastardly antagonist. Lovely costumes and the location shots look nice.

A made for TV production and it shows; the photography is very static and dreary by today's standards. It is bolstered however by a strong cast of British stalwarts.
