Watching "Cabaret," I was expecting to be mesmerized, but it's visibly dated and its fun but messy musical numbers aren't overly captivating.

I don't understand why people seem to like this movie so much. The songs were forgettable, the plot was muddled, and Liza Minnelli's character tried to be charming but just came across as annoyingly self-centered- like a child. It wasn't terrible or anything but I wouldn't watch it again.

Less of a musical and more of a comedic drama with some musical numbers thrown in. Worth watching for the songs and all-around entertaining performance from Liza Minnelli.

All historical accuracy aside, this is a bawdy and fun musical romp that features energetic performances by Liza Minelli and Joel Grey. I didn't love some of the romantic scenes, since I found them a little over-the-top, but the music is great and the film is at its best when it's being satirical and tongue-in-cheek.

I cannot recommend avoiding this movie enough. It tries so hard to be provocative and is just downright numbing, even misogynistic. The "protagonists" treat eachother monstrously. And then all the tunes get stuck in your head for days reminding you of the amoral mess you just saw.

This is one of those movies why I am not really sure it was made. A great cast of actors, good performances and even some great musical numbers. Still, the movie had little drama and in the end, it ended just as it began. Not worthy of AFI.

If you love jazz music, sexy girls, a war and some great singing- than this is your film. This is a classic musical, much like Bob Fosse's material, and could be an older sister to the movie Chicago. Liza Minnelli is ah-mazing, Michael York plays the innocent American fantastically, and there will never be a better mc than Joel Grey. A must-see!
