Almost as unnecessary a sequel as Baby Geniuses 2—but not nearly as funny—Cheaper by the Dozen 2 follows the gaggle to their old summertime getaway where the age-old rivalry between Tom (Steve Martin) and Jimmy (Eugene Levy, on par here with his pedophilic turn in the Olsen Twins' 2004 classic New York Minute) drags on. As expected, Steve Martin says things like "It's all good" and a dog humps Carmen Electra's leg. CBTD2 does hold a pleasant surprise, however—Hilary Duff now looks like a 35-year-old anorexic slut.

A tired retread of the maiden film in which the usual pratfalls ensue and the usual lessons are learned; there's really not much for anyone to do here, including the viewer. Final Grade: C-

Steve Martin and Eugene Levy have always done a great job together. This movie wasn't poor because of their acting, their acting was great, the script was the problem. The idea of the movie was good, but it was poorly written and conceived. Steve Martin plays Tom Baker, a dad with 12 kids. Now that they are beginning to grow up, he wants to have one last family trip to Lake Winnetka. But things have changed; most of Lake Winnetka has been bought up by Jimmy Murtaugh (Eugene Levy). The Murtaughs are old rivals of the Bakers and the competition bug is sparked between Tom and Jimmy. Now both families are pulled into a rivalry among dads. It was ok, but could have been a lot better.
