Witness thriller taken from a kid's perspective. The whole film lacks edge, as if it was particularly made for a younger crowd. There is little threat from the Mob murderer and his hit-men. It does feel dull in this aspect. Many recognizable actors are present and most give decent performances. About an hour of this two hour film is above average, the rest leave much to be desired.

Deeply dull witness thriller as Susan Sarandon gets in touch with her motherly side protecting a stereotypical kid from a broken home with the ubiquitous southern drawl from the usual suspects.

Looking back on my life, I realize my parents let me watch a lot of odd things as a child...this is one of those movies that I was allowed to watch that I probably shouldn't have been able to watch. However, I loved this movie. Brad Renfro as a child in search of safety and the two lawyers who entangled in a web of justice...the magic is brilliant.

A decent enough adaptation that is more than just another thriller thanks to the excellent casting - Susan Surandon, Tommy Lee Jones, Brad Renfro - all at the top of their games. The story and star power combine for a great film.
