An amusing underrated gem involving 7 essential figures: Professor Plum (Christopher Lloyd), a psychiatrist, Mrs. Peacock (Eileen Brennan), a Senator's wife who has accepted bribes, Mrs. White (Madeline Kahn), an alleged black widow, Miss Scarlet (Lesley Ann Warren), who operates an illegal brothel, Colonel Mustard (Martin Mull) a war profiteer who made his money from selling stolen radio components, Mr. Green (Michael McKean) a homosexual and butler, Wadsworth (Tim Curry). Wonderful soundtrack, intricate plot, likable characters, sincere performances and an engaging story. Best lines: Mrs. Peacock - "No, just death, isn't that enough?" On a dreary night, six people were invited to a mansion to settle a series of blackmails connected to a man named Mr. Boddy (Lee Ving). After Mr. Boddy is murdered, however, the guests have to solve the mystery in “Clue.”
This film is, of course, based on the board game of the same name (known as Cluedo in the U.K.). The characters, Mrs. Peacock (Eileen Brennan), Mrs. White (Madeline Kahn), Prof. Plum (Christopher Lloyd), Mr. Green (Michael McKean), Col. Mustard (Martin Mull) and Miss Scarlet (Lesley Ann Warren) are all present, including new characters Yvette (Colleen Camp) and Wadsworth (Tim Curry). You may have already known this, but I just wanted to point out the great cast.
