Too violent to be enjoyable. I love violent movies, don't get me wrong, but this one is just unnecessary.

Obviously the film is simply about the cops in the world of chaos dominated by drug dealers. This film is cool though, that SLO-MO substance is a killer, and the voice-activated guns is perfect for a dramatic and heroic action scenes, like you whisper the kind of shot you want and boom, you kill them all!

If you like your violence served relentless and with a bit of style - Dredd is all yours. Despite trying to appear cool - Dredd is a pretty forgettable action film - even though Lena Headey makes a badass villain. Urban never takes off his helmet (staying true to the source material) unfortunately, his performance consists of frowning and talking in a deep voice (oh, and shooting lots of people). For action fans it's a go - for everyone else, probably not worth the effort.

A dumb, brainless remake of a dumb, brainless movie that isn't very good (or much fun) to begin with. It has a few good moments (the slow-motion drug scenes were pretty cool), but ultimately it prefers style over substance without providing much memorable style. Forgettable trash. 2/4

Dredd is a 80s action movie at heart, full of gory violence and clever one-liners, with a modern tone, special effects, and music. This movie is in the same vein as Rambo, RoboCop (the original), and The Terminator; a well written and well acted creative story filled with intense violence. Amazingly, despite this movie's strong reviews and the best 3D that I've ever seen, it has done exceptionally poorly in the theaters. I can only speculate that modern audiences aren't looking for violent action movies anymore. However, if you enjoy violent action movies or 80s action movies, you'll almost certainly love this one.

A straight forward shoot-em-up made with style. Dredd explodes off the screen with impressive visuals (including good use of 3D) and brutal violence. The presentation of the super slo-motion is stunning and actually beautiful. The plot is simple, but not dumb, and it doesn't contain many cliches. An efficiently entertaining flick, for the action lover.
