WWII is rarely seen on film as it is in "Come and See," a nightmare chain of sequences that's as expressive as it is intense and unflinchingly realistic.

Biggest problem with this film is main actor, i just couldnt stand him, he was so unconvincing, awful actor. Another problem is that it could have been much better, it has its moments, but to make ww2 film in russia, surrealistic, i was expecting much more. However it is better than usual ww2 films and some moments are very very intense, but that is just when there is no that awful actor.

Come and See assaults the senses in a way that is not easily forgotten. The film unflinchingly portrays a unique perspective of the horrors of World War II - through the eyes of a Russian youth. The film's constant use of characters breaking the fourth wall by staring directly into or addressing the camera adds to the often uncomfortable feeling the film creates. The psychological horror is captured in dreamlike quality and the climactic village assault by the Nazis is difficult to watch. Not a fun film to watch, but an important one.

A hard-hitting and challenging drama of war's effect on the youth (as the main character demonstrates by seeming to age 20 years in the process). It's grim, uncompromising, but also repetitive and slow. Final Grade: B+
