This dreary comedy and aloof drama failed to reach me.

The story is about a young man must deal with two bombshells that have been dropped by his elderly father: that he has terminal cancer, and that he has taken up with a young, male lover. This movie has incredible acting and directing and Christopher Plummer at his best in this movie.

A mix between sadness, comedy and hope, these flashback interconnection shows us to Oliver, who is thinking about his relationship with his father, a beginner gay, and his mother. After his father dies He meets Anna, an insecure girl with the hurts of the broken relationships and with a emotionally unstable father. Despite such fears and pain, they decide keep together. A quiet, warm and personal movie, so sad for moments but with flashes of hope.

A thoughtful and sweet film, with a lot of curiosity. It manages to stay upbeat during it's depressing moments and the relationships are well developed. Mildly enjoyable.

6 months after his mother died, his father told him that he is gay. Oliver then had to find meaning of sex, life, healing, nature, and magic. *** I didn't understand the whole thing about this film. But I appreciate the over-all picture and feel of it. Ewan McGregor and Christopher Plummer, as expected, delivered well and made the film watchable even audience might feel like the movie is going nowhere.

A movie that's just okay, mainly because there's too much talking that eventually dissolves into whining. There's an interesting setup as McGregor's character is dealing with his father coming out late in life and being diagnosed with cancer, but McGregor's mopy behavior gets pretty grating after awhile. The bright spot here is Christopher Plummer, who does some of his best work (and most of the time, his work is pretty damn good, so that's saying something) as the father. His scenes at the end are great, unfortunately you have to sit through some pretty depressing stuff just to get there.
